Ornamental Folk, 2026
11 x 15 x 3 inches
metal, copper wire, aluminum foil, and acrylic paint
Ornamental Folk is a mixed media sculpture created from found discarded materials transformed into an ornamental object. Inspired by Mexican folk art and the metal embossing technique of repujado, the work challenges the idea that beauty and purpose are lost once something is thrown away. Through pattern, color, embossing, bending, and binding, scrap material is given new life, becoming an object that reflects labor, care, cultural inspiration, and the transformative power of reuse.
