This mixed media collage represents the spirituality of the feminine within Hispanic culture and the complex ideals
of marianismo. I was inspired by the cultural expectation of Hispanic women as self-sacrificing and spiritually
superior, often positioned as the moral counterpart to machismo. Using mixed media techniques, I focused on
layered symbolism and depicted the central female figure as the foundational pillar and the reason why the
machismo figure has ascended to his floral throne.
